Well, whatever they want to call it it has more functionality than my j11 had, so i'll take it!

Hmm, pretty sure it's pro-pilot. It was doing all of the things described here - https://www.nissan-global.com/EN/TECHNO ... pilot.html - even in the manual, i just have to change the gears for it.

No - you said:

The propilot is great for the motorways, not so good in traffic (m5 in summer holidays!) as it cuts out at 15mph.

... and that article says:

"Completely stops in traffic situations and continues to apply brakes until released by the simple push of a button."

So to reiterate.

The crucial difference is that ProPILOT in a traffic queue will bring the car to a complete halt and then start it going again - presumably with a push of a button on the steering wheel to ensure the driver's attention is gained.

ProPILOT thus can only work if the car is an auto.

Drive Assist won't do that because it's a manual. Hence the reason you found it cutting out.

Drive Assist does most of the ProPILOT functionality but cannot do it all, hence the reason manual cars instead are given the nomenclature "Drive Assist" to avoid confusion.

Check out this from 2019 - https://www.nissan.co.uk/experience-nis ... ology.html

Simple and intuitive to use, ProPILOT is available in automatic Qashqai models only, DCT & CVT transmissions, but even Manual transmission models can get in on some of the action with the Drive Assist Pack, which is available for the same cost as the ProPILOT pack, except for the ability to come to a complete stop and resume driving in traffic.

Would anyone else like to chip in that i was wrong? :-) It's an easy mistake to make considering what appears to be 90% of propilot is "drive assist". My original point was referring to what funcitonality i now had in the j12 manual vs the j11 manual.

Please test this whenever you see fit if you please?
Thanks
It wasn't a very conclusive test as i was just popping up the road, but i stuck it into sports mode and tried it out.

As with all modes, when you're accelerating from 0 it's absolutely fine, and sports nicely gives you a good boost setting off. I tried to cruise at low revs in 1st and test it and it was a bit hit or miss, if the revs stayed over 1000 then it'd pickup again fine as you'd expect. Lower than that (this is me guessing as hard to check revs while making sure i didnt hit the car in front :-)) and you get a bit of bogging down. It's a bit tricky to recreate it on demand on the roads but i'll try again next time.

Thank you so much for testing this again, really appreciated!
It won't be long before I will be able to test all this myself too, with the 6MT 156 BHP version.
