Concerns re the engine, the CVT, and the interior...

The blues of the 3008 and Qashqai are very similar - even down to the two-tone black roof and wing mirrors 🤔

Indeed Sandgrounder, even looks a bit similar (as most crossovers look a bit alike these days).
What always strikes me is the lok / design of European cars vs most of the cars from, say, the East.
It is clear design specifications are quite different ... if we only look at Huyndai and future Kia SUV this becomes obvious ... those are looking so 'busy' compared to the more 'gentle' European looks.
Peugeot cars especially always looked nice and 'sporty' to me, even this 3008 Crossover does.
But IMHO the new model 3 QQ looks just as great.

Has no one else seen last week's Autocar?

Mine only arrived today so here's the summary - they're rather critical about the engine and gearbox. Even the more powerful engine is "lackluster" and interestingly it's the manual gearbox not the CVT they've tested

What are these Autocar Guys meaning is it the Mild Hybrid being given a knock ?. Now when you look at the comparisons copied out from Autocar below where is the problem with the QQ Engine / Gearbox. The comparison to me looks pretty good for the QQ, our J11B Tekna + / DCT to me is on a par with the J12 I tested last week with the CVT. The QQ has pretty good bhp / fastest / reasonable acceleration. There are so many negatives flying around at present, as I said recently is it really worth reading and worrying, so the advice is take a Test Drive as the decision is yours in the end - Dave 😉

In most J12 reviews I read and/or saw on Youtube 3 issues pop up :

-1. 6MT : not firm + lazy - Xtronic : slow to respond

-2- Engine + Alis + transmission = mismatch

-3- infotainment system : easy to use, but blurry, rather unresponsive and old fashion.

Hopefully this is not ... reality :?:

I obviously can't publish the whole article but here's a summary - they tested a 158 manual Tekna:

Design and Engineering - 4/5

Interior - 4.5/5
~ "Interior feels modern but remains easy to use"
~ they like the heater controls - Autocar has a "thing" about having to use the touchscreen for basic functions

Multimedia - 3/5
~ Dated graphics

Performance - 3/5
~ "really frustrates"
~ lacks "low-end grunt" - "needs 2000rpm to really get going"
~ they don't think the hybrid element contributes much at all to the performance (rather it helps start/stop)
~ clutch - high bite point, "engine revs drop very slowly when the clutch is disengaged" - "mildly notchy but longish" gearchange
~ "might be better suited to an automatic gearbox" - but they don't like the CVT either

Handling and Stability - 3.5/5
~ prioritises ride comfort
~ "The one dynamic flaw is the steering. It's very light at smaller steering angles and weights up more suddenly as you dive into tighter corners with a bit more speed and lock" - feels "artificial and inconsistent"

Comfort and Isolation - 4/5
~ good seat comfort
~ poor for road noise

Buying and Owning - 3.5/5
~ Tekna is "relatively expensive"
~ poor reliability prospects
~ good economy

Assisted Driving - 4.5/5
~ generally pretty good
~ you can change gear without disabling cruise!
~ "A welcome feature is that it will recognise changing speed limits but wait for the driver to confirm before changing the vehicle's set speed" [I'd see this as a disadvantage though, wouldn't you?]
~ can't be switched to conventional cruise though

Spec advice
~ avoid the Visia (no touchscreen) and Tekna+ (20" wheels)
~ and despite the gearchange issues, take the manual rather than the "wheezy" CVT
(2015 Nissan Qashqai Tekna DIG-T 1.2 sold 15/6/18) ~ 2018 Suzuki Ignis SZ5 - 2018 Yamaha MT-07 ~ (2024 Volvo EX30 ordered)

@gloucester.
Thanks for the summary of this article.
If I, personally, would have to come to any conclusion about what is written (if accurate) then it all comes down to ... avoid this car. :(

Don't worry. The car is just fine to drive. My test drive was around 1 hour, did about 40km in different roads and terrain. I'm totally happy with it, anxiously waiting for the delivery of my car.
