I have a qashqai j11 1.3 gasoline and my daughter has the same one but 1.5 dci. Do you know if the thermostat box fails in both gasoline and diesel? The two from Spain

These "reinforced" parts are not original Renault parts. The only solution would be an aluminium thermostat or to install a minimum level warning system in the expansion tank. Mercedes already have the sensor in the expansion tank as standard. I don't think Renault/Nissan will look for a solution beyond changing the thermostat when a leak is detected. And in the event that it breaks, "We will give you a good price for your other vehicle since you are a very important customer for us."

I would love to see the metal clips that Mercedes apparently made to stop this housing exploding. I’ve searched all forums for A class but to no avail, if someone else has any luck please put photos up on here.

So far the only thing I'm seeing on Spanish Mercedes forums is that they only change the thermostat when they have a low level warning. Nothing about that clip. Another solution that occurs to me is to use epoxy paste on the joint when changing the part to reinforce it. The bad thing is that it is very complicated to change it for someone who is not a mechanic.

Monday I was driving along without a care in the world and all of a sudden at a set of traffic lights saw a big puff of steam.. turned engine off straight away, got towed away and thermostat housing spilt.

Sent into dealer, discussed this forum and the problems encountered and assured that it wouldn’t be that bad.

Had my thermostat housing replaced and called to pick up car. Happy days - or so we thought… next morning apparently all the coolant had again leaked out the engine and now looking at a 8k bill and 2 month wait for a new engine.

20 plate. Fully serviced 50k miles.

No warning signs. No faults prior to the day and as it’s a lease car (that I maintain) no choice but to get the new engine fitted.

Absolutely gutted!!!!!!
You need specific details of where the second coolant leak was. If it was a result of negligent work, or a replacement part that was faulty, the blame is squarely with Nissan
They are saying that the initial issue is that when the engine has overheated then the engine is cooked and needs replacing completely rather than when they replaced the thermostat housing it has now developed another fault… 🤷🏻‍♂️ anyway heard back that even though I have followed the service plan completely as it wasn’t down at a Nissan dealer then I’m on my own to get it fixed.. even though it’s a ‘faulty part’ and nothing that would have been checked or replaced in the service schedule anyway!!!

Hello my friends,
My car is a Nissan Qashqai 1.3 DIG, 2019 year.
I used a liquid level sensor, glued to the expansion tank. When the liquid level is low, it sounds.
It starts when the ignition is switched on.
You need only a level sensor and a buzzer. You don't need any relay.
I let you videos.

It is the best solution to save our motors.

Best regards.

Does the beeping sound inside the car, and where can these items be bought.
Thanks.

The buzzer can be installed wherever you want: inside the car or under the hood.
The sensor must be calibrated.
