Unless you have a Nissan warranty or a full Nissan main dealer only service history, you will be on your own for the costs.

Hi,

On Thursday my heating wouldn’t work then picked my daughter up from school and the car started to shudder I drove just over a mile to my local garage where they said there was a leak all the coolant was gone. The replaced the part with 110600260R but then said they think the engine is damaged but couldn’t tell until they had sealed the part. It’s out of warranty but we are still paying for the car. If anyone is happy to send any information on what they wish they had done or said to Nissan before I call them I would be very grateful. My car is a qashqai registered in sept 2019.

Sorry I’m not very technical I’m useless with cars. Many thanks for any help.

Just wondering how is everyone getting on with Nissan. Have an ire reg 2019 1.3 petrol model and thermostat casing broke whilst driving causing the engine to overheat steam coming out from engine. Brought to garage and had this replaced. When investigated the head gasket had been damaged when the car overheated. Nissan Ireland are saying it’s not a Nissan problem even though so many people have the same issue. Garage recommending a new engine as aluminium engine and basically not worth stripping

I've got an extended warranty from motorpoint, can anyone understand this screenshot from my policy as to whether it would cover engine damage in the event of Thermostat failure.Image

Looks like it does to me under the "casings " section and "All Mechanical Parts" mentioned at the top.

I think it is worth replacing the thermostat as a preventive measure after several years of using the car and mileage over 50,000 km. The price is about £100 and you can do it yourself.

Has anyone got a reliable link to the Renault Thermostat housing?, the genuine part and not a cheap one off Ebay. Thanks.

I bought an original Renault in Poland for about €100, but I don't know if the store sends products to Great Britain.
