My 2019 has the thermostat on the left side of the engine when looking from inside the car, indeed on the passenger side. Near the battery.hkphooey wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 1:06 pmThe part in question is on right side looking from inside the carFrakturHaaz wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 12:23 pm Yes. Passenger side front underneath. Also were some smokey pools of coolant in engine.

That depends entirely what part of the world you are in. In the UK, it's on the passenger side.... right of engine bay when standing at the front bumper.hkphooey wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 1:06 pmThe part in question is on right side looking from inside the carFrakturHaaz wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 12:23 pm Yes. Made a video about my summary as well. Appears that I also have to old part.
Already got quite some reactions with other occurrences (but probably also members here).
For now I can only say to be ware of the coolant smell (burned walnut said someone in the comments), the motor temp indicator and possible smoke from the bonnet.
If you notice one of these, stop asap and do not drive any further to save the motor from more damage.
Thinking about contacting Mercedes to ask about this "clip" repair.

Thanks!! No I only have to start a fund raising for the new part
No I think it could be helpful to summarize the 50+ (helpful!) pages.
I also spread the "word" on the Italian and French fora, where this topic wasn't discussed at all (...).
The video takes off quite rapidly, so I believe to problem is more widely spread than the UK/Ireland & Spain only.
I already received occurrences from Greece and Romania as well.
If only we could pinpoint the "wrong" period/factory and link it to the concerned VIN numbers... something Nissan should have done of course.
I also contacted Mercedes. We will see..

Great video. Couple of thoughts I've had, has anyone looked at a Mercedes parts website etc to see if there is any variation or modifications?
The other point that comes to mind, if it's only Nissans seemingly having this issue, could it be the specific coolant mixture they recommend and use (especially in the first few years when it's unlikely to be changed) that causes a premeture or rapod deterioration of the joint plastic?? Worth looking at the recommended coolant used across the brands to see if there is any major difference?

Sorry something that I noticed in your video re QR code, the part that came out of mine has the older QR code on it, but the part number printed on it is the new part? Are you certain you've got the QR codes the right way round?lapalmeraie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 11:01 am Thanks!! No I only have to start a fund raising for the new part
