Ok, managed to get someone to have a look on the renault Kadjar site on Facebook and there is one, yes one, mention of a possible problem with thermostat, in fact the majority of post are recommending the 1.3 petrol version. So in my opinion this is yet another scaremongering post that has nothing to do with facts, that is unless someone can prove me different!!

If you look at the housing in question between the two flanges where it splits you’ll notice a thin line of rubber which has been heat sealed after the thermostat has been inserted. This is simply the residue left over after the heat has been removed. I did some asking around at both my Nissan and Renault dealers and none of them were aware of this particular pert being upgraded. One lad told me that they had sold a few replacements to repair ones that had exploded but no one in the parts dept had received an update on it, nothing, and old stock hadn’t been removed.
As far as I’m aware the A class merc which also has this engine had the same problem and if you go onto their forum it mentions that a metal clip was issued to stop the problem, so I’m guessing it’s some kind of clamp to prevent the two parts exploding.
I don’t have any links to that so don’t ask. My Tekna is a January 2020 with 22457 miles on it, I inspect my housing weekly especially if I’m going on a motorway trip, to date it looks spot on, no degradation no leaks etc, but it may go tomorrow, who knows?
It is without doubt a very poorly designed housing that should have been scrapped and replaced by now, but as we all know Nissan won’t do that for obvious reasons.

You got any links for that clip?

Try editing the picture (cut out the qr and increase contrast/lower highlights) and using a qr code reader app.

I did that with a new code reader, and it gave me the part number, unfortunately it isn’t the latest one!!
Thanks anyway.

A few posts higher up you will see my other post which shows the QR code for the latest part number. Unfortunately I would say yours does not match and is therefore not the latest part.

That suggests the J12 is made with different components to the J11b where this issue has been reported. That's no surprise tbh.
