Qashqai Model: Mk.2 Qashqai Facelift - J11b (2017–2021)

Post by Gazza61 »

Hi
I have a 2017 Nissan Qashqai Tekna Plus 1.2 Dig-T and has 22000 miles on clock. I asked my local Nissan dealer for quote for service and they quoted me £396.00and said I should get cam belt kit replaced at same time.
Seems bit steep to me for service, and thought cam belt is normally changed around 45000miles.
Can anyone ki dly advise me please.
Many thanks
Kind Regards Gary

Ask them whether they're referring to the possible problems with the cam CHAIN and, if that's the actual matter at hand, precisely what they're proposing to do.

If they still maintain it has a cambelt - walk away and find a dealer that knows what they're actually maintaining?

(Only the 1.5 diesel has a cambelt and that WOULD need replacement now since the five year limit would have been reached - overruling the c.72k mile limit)

I wrote:

Since your car is five years old it should be due for a MINOR service as the fifth service, since for a low-mileage car it should be getting a yearly service alternating minor, major, minor, etc.

EDIT - my maths didn't work! It should read:

Since your car is four years old it should be due for a MAJOR service as the fourth service, since for a low-mileage car it should be getting a yearly service alternating minor, major, minor, etc.

The dealer in Gloucester and all the other dealers in the area charge Nissan's set rates: £229 for a MINOR service and £319 for a MAJOR service.

What is the service history to date?

Your car's service schedule might not be exactly the same as my two-years older one but there's also a coolant change at 60 months (five years) which would boost the price:

Hi mate
Thanks for your reply and your expertise on the matter. At 7118 miles it had Minor service. At 13876 miles it had Major service. Then I purchased car at 17062 they gave it a small service.
Now at 22050 I am being told it's a major service costing £386.00
I can't see how it is due major service, but I know nothing about this.
Stay safe Kind Regards Gazza61.

Service intervals are X0,000 miles or 12 months.
Presumably your car is 4 years old and you are due a service

It's due a MAJOR service (which includes a two-yearly brake fluid change) PLUS an auxiliary belt change AND spark plugs (both required at four years).

I think your quote is probably very reasonable assuming that's the scope.
