My 1.2 DIG-T Acenta’s timing belt has gone, the garage has advised that it now needs an entire new engine at a cost of
£6000 which essentially means it is now a write off. I am aware that this is a common issue. It also burns oil for fun.
It’s a 64 plate and has done 78k miles.
Trouble is we still have an existing PCP on the vehicle and owe £5800.
Please has any one had a similar issue with their 1.2 dig? From what I’ve been reading it appears Nissan are aware of this issue with this model but they are no recalls etc? Has anyone ever had success with Nissan when challenging this?
Thanks in advance

Welcome to this forum.
Please note the 1.2 has a chain not a belt.
There is a HUGE topic on this subject on here. I suggest you read it. viewtopic.php?t=2780
High oil usage should have been the clue to something about to go wrong.
IF you have a FULL Nissan service history you MIGHT get a contribution, but not many seem to succeed. £6,000 is at the low end of quotes posted - more usually nearer £8k
Whilst there was not a specific recall, affected models SHOULD have been adjusted to mitigate during regular services.
I sold mine before it happened - too risky to keep!

Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately not a full service history, part. And not with Nissan.
I’ll have a look at the topic thanks.
Im so cross I was sold a car with a known issue and and now potentially £6k in debt with no car!

I can fully appreciate your grief - it's something we've seen before albeit you're in a worse position than many.
I fear you'll get nowhere with Nissan, but it's always worth trying.
