Is there a a way I can physically check if there's a problem with the turbo on my 2011 1.5Dci without removing the turbo first?
Any advice welcomed.

The turbo boost pipe broke in two, so I replaced that and cleared the fault code. However, the car remains the same - the engine sounds rough and won't rev above 2000rpm - it won't idle either - splutters to a halt.

You need diagnostic. Something is making that engine not to be able to rev above 2k rpm

OK, thanks. A garage is going to take it away on a tow truck and do their thing. I guess there's not much I could do with a socket set!

Probably find dpf is blocked due to air pipe splitting.
Has it had the recall done for engine update as the software prevents overfuelling in the case of this situation to stop the blocking of the dpf if pipe splits

I've had issues with the DPF in the past - one garage said it was blocked, but the DPF pressure sensor pipe at the back of the engine was blocked, so I had that unblocked, plus glow plugs replaced (another warning that came up last year) and fault codes cleared - it was fine after that. If the DPF was really blocked, wouldn't the fault code come up again?
Although I've had a look at some YouTube videos again, and it seems the split pipe and low revs are indeed symptoms of a blocked DPF. It looks like a fairly straightforward job to remove the DPF and use a chemical cleaner to clean it out, according to this video. So maybe the turbo isn't goosed after all?

I'm not aware of this recall - I've had the car since 2015.lewisbryant wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 7:41 pm Has it had the recall done for engine update as the software prevents overfuelling in the case of this situation to stop the blocking of the dpf if pipe splits

I removed the DPF (with some difficulty!) and left it filled with Wynne's off-car DPF cleaner overnight, but the DPF seems to be completely blocked - no water will flow through it.
I only had a little bit of cleaner left and I poured it in the exhaust end and left it. I am now working if I should get more cleaner or just get a new DPF.
There's a new one on ebay for about £150.

I eventually took a pressure washer to it - apparently that's not a great idea, but it cleaned out a lot of muck. I ordered more cleaner, but due to the 'pingdemic', it didn't arrive on time, so I fitted the DPF back on the car and hey presto! It's fixed!
Thanks for all the advice!
