2011 1.5dci Euro 5
I've noticed a droning whine from the engine bay which matches the engine revs, and it's been going on for some time now.
Rather accidentally, I switched off the A/C button, and the noise disappeared.
This made me think it might be the A/C clutch or pulley, but surely a) If it's the pulley, the noise should be continuous, regardless of A/C operation, and b) If it's the clutch then it should only make a noise when the compressor is engaged, but in fact it is continuous.
Any ideas? Need I be worried?

so the noise dissappear when you turn of the AC?
But at the end of your post your saying the noise is continuous even when the AC clutch is disengaged?
Makes no sense?
But hazard a geuss that the automatic tensioner has gone ive seen alot of these cause drive belt noises, I usually advise when doing timing belt to replace drive belt as it is also due and replace water pump and drive belt tensioner

My thoughts exactly. Both belts and water pump recently changed although will check the tensioner.lewisbryant wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 6:24 am But at the end of your post your saying the noise is continuous even when the AC clutch is disengaged?
