How Hard Can It Be To Get A New Door Mirror

Hi all,
Not long ago some kind idiot in a transit van knocked my door mirror off, smashing the casing and I suspect also damaging the motor that folds the mirror in as now when it folds in it seems to be folding in to far and it's hitting the window. Luckily the tilting feature and the camera still seem to work fine, the indicator still works although most of it has been smashed off.
I took it to my local main Nissan dealers on April 1st for them to assess the damage and to get a quote for a repair. The guy went out to look at the car and I waited and waited and waited and after about 15 mins I was told that Nissan had never supplied them with the part number for a casing (self coloured silver casing) and they were having trouble trying to find out what the number was, they had the part number for a replacement motor for it though. I had a text from them today saying they had ordered a complete new door mirror assembly just to see if it came with a silver casing supplied.
As I was leaving the dealers I saw one of the lads going round removing QQ door mirror casings, when I said "what have they got you doing now" he said he had been told to go round and remove casings looking for the part numbers.
How bl**dy hard can it be to get a new door mirror/casing, surely I'm not the only person to ever ask for a new mirror in the entire world.
Rant over!!
Regards Chris.
