Update for those interested. Carried out the update and all seems to have worked! No cutting out on journey to work this am. Thanks for your help.

I have a 2016 Qashqai Nissan Connect LCN2 (third version) and the software version in the service menu is D302. I'm planning on updating my software to D605, but reading the service bulletin linked to here it said "If the version is anything other than A040, B155, D025, D207, D209 or D322, this bulletin does not apply. DO NOT install the USB memory stick."
Is this just because the service bulletin is American? Or should people with D302 not update to D605?

For anyone interested, updating from D302 to D605 works fine. Took pretty much dead on an hour. I was super paranoid and had the engine running, stop-start off AND the hazards on. Hopefully it will fix my spotty DAB radio.
I did a factory reset beforehand to be ultra-safe with such a big software version increase so now I have to go through the pain of adding all my radio and nav presets!
