Just had Bassett's Swansea say it needs a regass of 500g. I've said about the condenser. Fell on deaf ears. They want £260 or less if they can reclaim some of it...Wife wants another make now. Probably going to see a specialist.

Catnash, I cannot see a mention of any contact with NCS on this problem, as mentioned before yours is a 2014 model and the most Air Con problems are there. If you have not contacted NCS get an email of to them quickly stating your problem and you should get a Ref.No. back which is your Nissan Case No. You have nothing to lose here as the Dealer should also then be contacted by NCS or you could approach Bassett's Management as an unhappy Customer - give it a go Dave ;)

Yes will give them a ring to see what they say. Otherwise there's a local guy who's very good down here.

Catnash, my recommendation is to stick the complaint on an email, then you have it in Black & White for later reference and NCS will then have it on file with a No. You could well be fobbed off on the phone as often the comment is "have not heard of this". If you write an email this weekend they should have it for Monday start - Dave :)

Just last Thursday I had mine booked in for diagnostics just up the road at JJ Motors Cross Hands. They charge £200 for a complete re-gas but I made it very plain that a leak means a fault. Anyhow, they did diagnose a failed condenser so they are putting in for a repair authority to Nissan and don't anticipate any problem getting it done under warranty, including the gas of course. Mine was fresh in October 2004.
A chap that works for me bought an used Qashqai a couple of weeks ago. His air-con doesn't work either and its out of factory warranty and bought from a non-franchised dealer. It will be interesting to see how he gets on with his supplying dealer, who has it booked in for a gas charge locally at a VW dealer. If the condenser is leaking, or indeed any other component leaks, its pointless charging it with very expensive R1234Y gas before repairing the leak.

Quacker, this subject of "Re-Gassing" appears to me to be the easy wayout for the Dealers. Although these costs for Re-Gassing are high most likely the Dealer is not really making a lot of money out of it, because the product cost and the new equipment is extremely costly.
Never the less Nissan know it, the Dealer knows it, the Owners also know that there is basically something wrong with the Quality of the Condenser over a period of time (2014?) and therefore the Guarantee should be met and the Customer kept happy IMHO - Dave :)
I hope your friend has a good Guarantee from the Dealer and not just a bought in the condition as is !

In the UK it's called an 'inherent fault' (means it was either there from new or it's been developing whilst within the warrant period. This means even if it's now out of the warranty period it will still be covered and if Nissan won't exchange it without cost to you then I am sure a solicitor will only be too happy to take up the case on your behalf !

Right ... just got back from the garage but I need your help please. They are supposed to have changed the condenser and re-gassed. On picking up the car the guy just said we have changed your radiator. As the condenser looks like a radiator and I have no idea about this stuff I just accepted that they had done what I had bought it in for (and which he confirmed they would be doing in the morning and that was also on the work sheet). There was also a problem with the front camera (which I am assuming they may have caused when looking for the condenser problem) and also the car wont always lock when pressing the door handle button; so I spent time discussing these. There was also the matter that it was 4.40pm and I was on the wrong side of Birmingham so wanted to get off before rush hour traffic hit.

Anyway on getting home I popped the hood and had a look. What I thought was the Air Con Condenser (small radiator on left when looking in) still looked very dirty but then I happened to look to the right and noticed just how shiny my main radiator now is. So the question is ... Have they changed the wrong radiator or what ?!
