Ok. First issue I've had. Day two of having car. Trip out shopping. Got back to the car park and the key fob would not open the car. No signs of life at all.
Took the hidden key out if the fob and opened the car. The alarm certainly works.
The drivers screen then indicated holding the key fob over the start stop button. I did this and the first thing it said was incorrect key id. Panic
On the second attempt it recognised the key fob. Alarm stopped and we were back to normality.
No idea what happened but will keep you updated.
Couldn't get in

oh dear...this is why I don't like being an 'early adopter' of new cars. It's always better to give the manufacturer a couple of years to get all the bugs out of the system. That said, I hope this was just a one off and doesn't recur...it does tend to take the shine off the ownership experience

Not the battery for sure. The Alarm and everything else was happy yo sound and once it recognised the key again all was fine. This has happened to me with a Mercedes just once in the past and it never had the issue again.I think there is a lot of technology built in to the keys now and as such things can sometimes go wrong.

this happend to me on My current car Astra, when I eventually got in I did not have anything on the instument panel, no miles, no fuel nothing but I could still drive it and all this was because I had left the phone charger in the socket overnite, once I got to where I was going and parked up and that was enough charge to bring every thing back to life. this has never happend again.hopefully just a one off
