I’ve not long taken ownership of a brand new Qashqai Tekna epower car. All was well with the Traffic Sign Recognition (including the annoying beeps if you go over the designated road speed etc.) for the first three weeks of ownership, but the system is now acting weird. Whereas before, the car got the designated road speed correct 95% of the time, that has now dropped to an intermittent 30%.
More often than not, all I get is “---” where the designated speed should be. If the car does pick up a speed sign, without any change in speed on the road I’m driving, it suddenly forgets, and I go back to the three dashes.
I’ve checked everything I can think, from ensuring the camera view is clear, all menu settings are correct, and I’ve even updated the traffic sign database, all to no avail. There are no errors showing on the system, so I’m at a loss to understand why TSR has gone dumb.
Has anyone else experienced this? It looks like I’ll have to take the car into a dealer.
Traffic Sign Recognition fails to read speed signs consistently

Yes, the system isn't great and I wouldn't rely on it too much mine was telling I was in an 80mph zone last week while I was on the M42 ! My previous car a Golf 8 would do similar shenanigans but only far worse and on a far more regular basis, technology getting ahead of itself.

I took my three week old car into the dealers last week for a battery problem. There was also a couple of other issues, including the same Traffic Sign Recognition problem as yours. The car was checked and several errors came up, mainly relating to the battery problem. The battery was changed and is now holding a charge, but now the traffic signs are now being recognised correctly.
