Hey folks,

I have a J12 Qashqai (2021 1.3 HYB CVT Premier). Last week it went in for a recall notice on the propilot system (mine was not affected, but they were doing the recall on all models afaik). I noticed when I got the car back the the lane departure warning (steering wheel vibration) can barely be felt, and sounds really loud and palstic-y compared to how it used to work. I spoke with the mechanic today and took him for a spin, he drove it as well, and he says it may just be the way the new steering wheel is, he brought out a changed steering wheel to show me the internals of it. There's a single motor that does the vibration, housed in the bottom right corner of the wheel.

Has anyone had this repair/replacement done? Have you noticed anything similar with the new steering wheel? I couldn't find anything in the settings to turn up the vibration power.

Honestly this feels and sounds horrible compared to the previous steering wheel.

Any advice?

Hello,

I am experiencing the same issue with the same car configuration. After the recall intervention, the lane warning vibration stopped working entirely. Only a quiet sound from the steering wheel could be heard.

I returned the car to the service partner, and they performed a “vibration motor adjustment.” Now, it behaves just like your car: very weak vibration and a loud, cheap, plasticky sound. This was my fifth complaint during the warranty period, and many issues remain unresolved. I believe the only solution is to get rid of this car.
