Sat Nav - long way round

Hi all,

I have had my QQ for 2 years - Tekna model.
I have messed with all 3 settings on the sat Nav (Eco/shortest/fastest)but it Never directs me on the shortest route.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get the best out of the sat
