Evening!

I've used these forums multiple times for electronic issues to much success(thank you). But I'm facing a problem I don't seem to be able to find a solution to.

About a week after getting my air con regassed (not sure if related) my 2014 J11 QQ started reporting electronic faults. Chassis control failure, stop start failure, speed sign reading failure, impact detection (if that's what it's called) failure.

OBDII reported an exhaust pressure sensor failure and glow plugs (P0380).

Electronic screwdriver came out with a length of cable, and I attempted to clear the pipe that leads from the manifold to the exhaust pressure sensor. Got some gunk out and this appears to have cleared the sensor error, but I'm still getting the glow plug error.

I charged my battery today just to see if it was a low voltage issue. Battery full and healthy, P0380 still reporting.

The car starts absolutely fine, which is why I'm asking the question rather than blindly buying new glow plugs.

Has anyone had this issue, or do I simply need to buy some new plugs (even if the car starts fine).

Thank you for any help!

P0380 relates to the Glow Control System ...from diagnostics. Info for 2 Diesel types (R9M & K9K). Seems a common DTC

DTC DETECTION LOGIC
NOTE:

If DTC P0380 is displayed with DTC P0560 and P0657, perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC P0560 and P0657.
Your generic scanner may not pick up P0657?

DTC detection
• ECM detects glow plug control unit error.
• ECM detects glow plug control circuit is open for 1 second or more.
• ECM detects glow plug circuit is short to ground for 1 second or more.
• ECM detects glow plug circuit is short to power for 1 second or more.
• ECM detects an over temperature on the glow plug control unit for 1 second or more.

Possible Causes:
• Harness or connectors (Glow plug control circuit is open or shorted.)
• Glow plug
• Glow control unit

Emissions/Fuelling errors will disable Stop/Start and more because the ECU is unable to control the engine correctly. Also Battery.

Thank you very much for this. It looks like it could be a glow plug issue then.

This is not an area I've not had to troubleshoot before, any recommendations on where to start?

Thanks again!

Most cars will start quite happily with one glow plug gone especially in the summer months, you may experience more difficulty in the winter when the temperature get nearer zero degrees.
Past cars Mercedes B Class, S Class, E Class Estate, E Class Coupe, G Wagen, 260E interspersed with Peugeot 406 and Audi Coupe.

The procedure requires that the Nissan CONSULT tool monitors the Glow Control System and its power supply. I'd say thats a Nissan dealer job really.

Turned out to be a corroded wire on the wiring loom. 4 hours for the garage to find and fix. All faults have now disappeared on the dash.

It really can be anything when these faults pop up.
