The car has to be running, in neutral (or park) and handbrake on - at least that’s what I have done and had two successful map downloads and one software

Ah, that's my mistake, even nissan didn't say that, thanks Mike I will try that tomm.
Not very green though is it lol, I wonder why the engine has to run, I remember them doing that on the i30;I had for there updates at the dealer.

Hi all,
So I tried the software update tonight with engine running and hand brake on, when it got to 50 min without downloading anything I gave up, my signal was strong at 50db but still nothing.
I press update and it goes straight to downloading and hangs.
I don't know if it looks for updates when your not in the car but I've left the WiFi extender on by the front door just in case.
Everything I see seems to suggest it should see an update or not quickly and then the download and install takes the time.
Can't take time off to do this so it will have to stay this way.
