Hi Guys, Hope you can help.

The wife drove over a speed bump today at the correct speed but she heard a noise like something rubbing from the wheel.
Then she heard a metal hitting the floor noise like a spanner being dropped and had a look but could not see anything.
After this, when she turns the wheel left or right there is a bom bom bom sound almost like a creaky knock.

Im guessing she has lost something from the steering or bits and bobs around the front nearside.

Does anyone have any suggestions what to check or what it is. I have very basic skills and could probably spot something obvious but with these cars I dont know?

Hi Nissaneggy,
Your description sounds like it possibly could be a broken spring. I had a similar experience with a Fiesta.
It was difficult to see the break as it was the bottom coil, and it started rubbing the tyre.

She has it booked into the garage for tomorrow but he said it could be that over the phone. Is that an expensive job?

I had an MX-5 with a broken spring which was only picked up at the MoT - didn't cost much to replace but note you should replace both sides not just the one.

The Fiesta was £ 100 per side.
As Gloucester points out both sides should be done.
