Ok, my car is driving me mad! (Literally!) Quick background...last year, driving from Blackburn back home to Newcastle, my car developed a knock. It gradually got worse but as we just wanted to be home, I drove around 60mph. No noises unless I turned left. Got home, mechanic said it was drive shaft & I had it fixed. Fast forward to Feb this year & driving on a motorway again, another knock! 😡 Assumed it was the other side (or maybe a defective part), I did the same & drove bk home & booked it into the garage but not until a few days later. Parked the car up until the day, took it...no noise! Mechanic drove it for a bit & basically made out I was mad! Sooo.. last week, same happened. Quiet noise to start with then quite bad., again a few days later, booked into the garage. Just got the car back today for a different mechanic to say there’s no noise! There really is! It’s really quiet, only on a right turn & seems to be when I’m pulling away, moving slowly & nearly on full lock but not all the time.
Please help before I lose the plot!

If it were a rattle it wouldn't be a bother. However, where there's thrust and play/slack then there is knock. If one drive shaft (CV joints) was changed I'd expect to have done the other side at the same time.

Check the drive shaft rubber boots, if they are split, it could be dirt getting into the joint.

Have the links to the anti roll bar been changed - or the damper top mounts ?
