So I've had a '15 QQ and now I'm onto a '17 QQ (that has noticeably less bells and whistles on it than the '15 plate), both are 1.5 DCi engines.
I've been looking for an upgrade for my '17 plate, something a little newer but still J11 and refined my ideal future QQ in the realm of 2019-2021. Also, one of two models, either (1) 150PS 1.7 Diesel or (2) 163PS 1.6 DIG-T Petrol - I started to investigate and since Brexit, importation prices have risen including a new NOX charge.. meaning that the petrol QQ could be imported and registered here into Ireland for €6,500 but the diesel QQ would be closer to €10,500. Which kinda stopped me in my tracks.
Then I discovered a rather rarer selection of AWD QQ's, and it started my mind into overdrive!
Now, I do not know very much about QQ's and that's why I've registered here, hoping you can fill in the blanks and tell me what is and what isn't possible please.
Currently I am looking to buy a Southern Irish reg 4x4 QQ. I'm only half looking at the minute and there was one listed on Donedeal and that was €15k. However it had high mileage of around 250k.
My initial questions are;
(1) Do all J11 models of QQ have the same chassis floor pan? i.e. If I sourced the AWD parts from part numbers, could they be fitted to 'any' QQ? If not, then I will have to definitely buy a 4x4 model.
(2) In terms of engines, correct me if I'm wrong please but I presume that the diesel engine would be more suited for towing (which I do intend to do) and the petrol engine I'd imaging could produce, in total more BHP down the road in terms of tuning?
Here's where I want to go with this...
I have never seen a lowered QQ, other than that of CEIKA Custom Coilovers, namely this one:
Personally I live rurally and we have some bad bumpy roads, so my ideal isn't going to be using those coilovers, instead of that choosing air bag suspension. My reasoning behind that is, it's going to be of some benefit being able to adjust the front and rear ride height in terms of towing. Also apparently the ride is supposed to be more cushioned verses regular springs/dampers - I'm not convinced of this but that's because I've never owned air bag suspension before. Again, any thoughts or experiences you've had I'd like to hear please.
Then I started to reminisce, thinking about the Sunny GTi-R and how Nissan possibly could of reinvented it in the new Pulsar, but didn't. Then the likes of the NISMO Juke-R and wondering about the possibility of recreating a QQ, but using off the shelf parts to create what I hope to create!
I look forward to hearing you're thoughts and comments! Thanks in advance
My goal
I’ve just joined the forum having purchased a QQ 2019 1.3 auto. Frugal, quiet, roomy. Very happy indeed

- Qashqai Model: Still looking for one....
Yes, all J11 models of the Qashqai share the same basic chassis structure. This means that it is possible to fit AWD components from a 4x4 model to a 2WD model, but it will require some modifications and may not be a straightforward process.T4LLGUY wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 12:45 pm My initial questions are;
