Hi All, I have a 2019 with a connect 4 radio/ sat nav . Yesterday I tried to do a map update by usb stick. Having done this before I wasn’t expecting any problems! The update started and could be seen uploading etc but kept showing complete only to continuously swapping from uploading to starting again. This happen for over 30 mins until I cancelled it. Tried to start the system after and have got banner “ the navigation system is starting up…” other features like radio, CarPlay etc all work correctly but the navigation system seems frozen and does not move on.
Have had a look in the settings showing software version etc ( see photo) but does not show map version. Could this be why the nav system will not open?
Cannot reset maps on usb as nav system cannot download map data for Nissan map update tool on laptop to recognize - as it does not open.
Any ideas of how to proceed? Local Mr Nissan garage wants £180 per hour to hook it up to their readers.
Would a factory reset do anything? Have done reset by holding volume button until screen goes black and Nissan logo appears but no change in nav banner.

I’m unable to select that until navigation has started but it is freezing or looping .

As I've posted on here before - My Connect 4 Head Unit refuses to do Map Updates via USB stick OR Wifi

Just says that

"Maps are up to date"

Wish there WAS a way to totally reset the map data on the Head Unit and "start again"

StampyNTFC - I notice that you posted earlier(2022?) a photo of version information which , like mine, did not show map version. Does this mean that no maps are now loaded in the system and therefore that’s why mine will not start up?

Just nipped back out to my car and it shows the following:-

Trying to do a Update over WiFi throws up the following error:-

"There was an error with the Map Update - Would you like to try again?" (and a Yes/No prompt)

Just as a quick update....

Yesterday afternoon, I reset the Nav system by using BOTH the "soft reset" and the "hidden menu" options - as well as disconnecting the battery for 1 HOUR!!

Results?

1) Still refuses to update via WiFi (with the same "Error with map updates") as above.

2) Throws up a "check Ipod or USB" error when I stick in a blank USB stick (no matter if it's FAT32 or NTFS format)

3) Writes files to the USB stick, with all with 0 bytes!

No wonder I use Android Auto and Waze for my Navigational purposes!!!

Soft Reset

Hold down the power button for approximately 10 seconds until the radio reboots

Full Reset

Press the Menu button to the "Menu" screen
Whilst holding down the Menu button, turn right dial 3 "clicks" to the left, then 3 to right, then 3 left again
You should now see the "System Diagnostics Menu" Screen
Using the right dial, turn to the right ONCE to select "Confirmaton/Adjustment" then click the OK button
Using the right dial, scroll down to "Initialise Settings", click OK
Using the right dial, select "User Data Initialisation" and click OK
You should now get a screen asking if you want to delete all data and settings
Using the right dial, select Yes and click OK
BE WARNED - THIS DOES A TOTAL RESET OF YOUR RADIO (Including all your saved stations)

Radio should reboot and start up again.,,

Hope this helps

Thank you StampyNTFC. Have carried that out but sat nav still saying starting up and not changing! I think it must be no maps installed so cannot open up. Looks like a visit to Mr Nissan - will try another garage and see what they charge!
