Qashqai Model: Mk.2 Qashqai Facelift - J11b (2017–2021)

Hi all,

I have a 2020 Qashqai which appears to have a faulty battery at less than a year old. The RAC have been out twice within 24 hours and have diagnosed the issue, but cannot replace under warranty as it is a Varta battery which they are not authorised change.

I have spoken to a number of local Nissan dealers, all of which cannot even look at it for a minimum of two weeks.

Has anybody had this issue before with such a simple warranty repair, and how did you overcome it?
To have a battery fail in less than a year, and then have to wait at least two weeks to get it replaced under warranty seems a bit unreasonable to be honest.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the QQ Forum ! That sounds a bit weird as usually the Battery problem is a “FIAMM” one and replaced with a VARTA Battery. The normal comment stated here is that the RAC Carry & Change these Batteries Under Guarantee.
Perhaps Nissan thought they had overcome the Battery problem by installing VARTA, maybe you just have a Faulty one. We had a VARTA installed in our J11A which was OK up until we sold it and our newer J11B has also a VARTA - now 2 years old.
It looks like you need to pressure the Dealers (Guarantee is Part of your Agreement when buying) or get NCS involved - Best of Luck Dave 😉
PS : out here they operate a Service for Minor unplanned problems which can be fitted in without an appointment !

Thats about a 30 min job to test the Battery and change it. And unsurprisingly Nissan would wish to do that for obvious reasons.

You effectively have a very unreliable "new" vehicle to which Nissan should recover and loan you another..similar?

I'd call the seller and ask for immediate action as above. If no go then get onto Nissan Customer Service HQ with an email complaint and back up call.

Some of these people are asleep on their feet really...
