Hello,

I would like to learn how to use the Park button correctly on my 2019 1.3 Tekna CVT Automatic.

Automatic P light turns onn on when I change from D to P and when the engine shuts off.

Automatic P light turns off on when I change from P to D and when press the accelerator pedal.

First of all, is it okay to use it this way?

Do I have to turn the parking button on and off myself for correct use?

Parking,
I pressed the brake pedal.
Shift to N, pull the park button and release the brake pedal.
Do I have to put the gear in P by pressing the brake pedal again?

Driving,
Depressing the brake pedal and shifting to N.
Turning off the parking brake by pressing the park button.
Shifting to D and releasing the brake pedal.

Belated welcome to this forum.

No need to touch the parking button during normal usage - goes off and on automatically.

Hello, there may be no difference on flat ground, but on sloping ground, they recommend putting the gear in neutral first, then pulling the handbrake and putting the gear in park.

As far as I understand it works like this,
When you park the gear, a thin pin secures the gearbox, the parking brake makes a stronger hold and there is no load on the gearbox. For this reason, first the gear is put in neutral, the load on the gearbox is unloaded, then the handbrake is applied, the load is released to the handbrake and finally the gear is put into the park position.

Another comment is:
While pressing the brake pedal, when we first put the gear in park and then turn off the engine, the handbrake is automatically applied and then we take our foot off the brake pedal.

I'm researching to find out the right method.

If you stop on sloping ground, keep your foot on the brake pedal, engage park and then press the on/off button and the handbrake will engage automatically. My driveway where I keep the car is on quite a steep slop and it works fine.
