If I had this collection over here and used it I think I would be “Hung Drawn & Quartered”. Sorting that lot out before use must be a planning nightmare and must take longer than cleaning the QQ, but the End Result is what is important, interesting subject inc the Tips - Thanks Dave 😊

Dave,

All the things you see in my shed photos are just for the QQ, although the All Purpose Cleaner can be used around the house.

If I am planning on cleaning the QQ I usually sort out what I'm going to be using the afternoon before.

Would be utterly expensive though... No doubt!
Congrats for the dedication some people have for their... Loved ones!

Yes I think you're right, it would be very expensive, having said that a lot of mobile car valeters/detailers use top end products.

I took my 70 plate metallic black Qashqai for its first service today at the Nissan main dealers. The work sheet said in big letters 'Do Not Wash', I had a big hang tag on the rear view mirror that said 'Do Not Wash' and I also made 2 big 'Do Not Wash' signs written in thick black marker pen which were taped to the inside of both front windows so they could be read from the outside.

I've just been to pick my car up and guess what....the girl on the service reception desk said "I'm really sorry but your car has been washed by mistake" She said the valeter (if you can call them valeters) took the key and put it through the car wash without them knowing. I asked if the 'valeter' can read English and she said " Well, English isn't their first language". After I blew up at her I did apologise and I asked to see the service manager. He came out and said that there wasn't any excuse for what had happened and he took photos of the 'Do Not Wash' signs that were on my car. He said that if I found any marks/swirls they would pay for a full machine polish.

Having said all of the above my car is going to Staffordshire Car Care on Wednesday 8th Sept for a stage one polish and the full suite of Gyeon coatings, paintwork, exterior plastics, glass, rims inside and out and complete interior.

One good thing that I was told was that because of the acute shortage of second hand cars the trade in value of my Qashqai Tekna+ is now actually more than what I originally paid for it.

Chris, if that is true I better get our Tekna + booked in if it’s going to be a investment - Dave 💶😃

The guy I dealt with when I purchased my QQ told me today that the trade in price for my Tekna+ against the new QQ was more that what I originally paid. He said they were taking orders now for possibly December or January 2022 deliveries.

The courtesy car they lent me was a base spec new QQ but I was still very impressed.

I've just been and picked up my QQ after it has had a full suite of Gyeon ceramic coatings applied, inside and out.

I think it looks absolutely amazing now.

I found a place near Berlin so I might ask what the cost is here, but it’s called the “Autolackaffen”- Car Paint Monkeys 🤭

Chris, just been to my “Detailer” our Nissan Dealer’s “Autowasch” €10,90 (Underbody Wash / Wheels Washed / 2x Body Wash / 2x Waxed / 2x Dried) - what is used no idea !.
This is the result before the “Home Detailer” gets cracking, it’s not going to be on a par as “Gyeon” though 🥴 - Dave 😁🤗

Dave,

That's the type of car wash that my Nissan dealer put my QQ through even after specifically being told not to wash it. As I said in an earlier post he offered to pay for a full machine polish to correct any swirls/marring that I found. When I had the machine polish done prior to the ceramic coating being applied the guys at Staffordshire car care said there were some swirls and marring on the paint but the machine polish managed to remove them.

Your QQ does look good though, get those detailing sprays out Dave

malvern_man wrote: Sun Aug 01, 2021 9:57 pm Since buying my 2020 QQ and joining a car detailing forum I wouldn't use an automated car wash if it was the last place on earth, that also goes for the £5.00 car washes that are everywhere nowadays.
You don't know what chemicals and at what dilution they are putting on your car. How many cars have their cheap wash mitts cleaned before yours. I'd hate to think how much dirt and grit gets transferred from one car to another....as the saying goes...the car wash is £5.00 the swirls and scratches are free.
I fully agree, I have NEVER used any of those £5 car wash guys. I always get the satisfaction out of doing it myself, plus I do a much better job. Not done by someone with a bucket full of sandy grit water or sponges that has been used on ample cars which has picked up grit from washing other cars etc.

My Focus that I have had since new in 2009 still looks excellent. Many people always ask me if I have it in a garage or have had the car resprayed as the paintwork looks fresh and virtually no swirl marks.
I aim to paint over some parts of the Qashqai I bought and the go over it with the detailing machine.
