Hi all, just bought (today!) a 2016 1.5 tekna.
It’s a long overdue replacement for 2005 merc a class.

I’d not driven one before today & have to say I’m pretty impressed. Goes well & seems to handle well. It’s a nice place to be & more importantly my wife loves it- which is just as well as it’ll be her daily driver.

Great buying experience from James at Wellington (somerset) Nissan too, 2 years warranty, 2 years servicing & breakdown cover if you take a bit of finance ( which I’d not planned to do - I was thinking debit card & in & out in half an hour, assuming to car stacked up).

Collect on Tuesday, looking forward to it.

Welcome to this forum.

Check it's had a cambelt replacement - overdue if not. Required at 5 years or between 60k and 90k miles (usually 72k?) depending on which source you look at and what it says in the car's own service record book.

Thanks both, I had actually forgot to ask about the cam belt. The dealer is checking - if it’s not already been done, they’ll have it done before collection.

The car is fitted with 19 inch wheels & the dealer has agreed to swap them for a set of 18’s from another car as part of the deal. I live in the sticks so bigger sidewalls will be better down some of the tracks around here.

The J11 Tekna came as standard with 19" wheels - the only option in that department in 2016 was a free downgrade to 17" alloys (later revised to 18" then deleted). I've not seen an original example but quite a few people have replaced with a smaller diameter wheel, generally 18".

I found the ride on the 19" wheels wasn't too bad, and better than both my preceding car, a Fabia vRS, and my present one, both on 16" wheels.

The dealer has been very good, they are swapping the wheels off a 2019 model.

My daily drive is a 2003 BMW M3 CSL, the rear tires are 265/30/19, coupled with the stiff suspension, it’s hard work on uk roads. I’m looking forward to a little comfort!

Drove to Glasgow last week, display showing 60.4 ave!

I’m finding the steering wheel too hard & too thin, any options for replacement or retrimming?

I believe a few people have looked into replacing the steering wheel, with Nissan upgrades, but found it exceptionally difficult. This isn’t necessarily any use to you anyway.
The chances of any "after market wheel" being available - who knows !

Some sort of naff padded cover could be your only shot - or get used to the feel of the wheel you have ;)
