Hi everyone, hope you are all staying safe :)

This aft I was looking at the POI's on the satnav ( 2019 SD Card version ) and in the MyPOIwarning folder there were lots of different speed camera types and locations, so should this be the case or have they been added?

This morning I went for a quick drive to fill up the Qash, and while out I adjusted the settings for the POI's and guess what, the speed cameras work!

The cameras appear on the map and sound a warning as you get close, I tried it on different types of camera and all are detected, this is without downloading anything from the internet.

So, with my car supposedly being a 2019, which we all know it clearly isn't, regardless of what Nissan and HPI Check say, so am I right in thinking the speed camera option was removed from the Connect 3 system with the SD card?

Finding out when the speed cameras were removed, if they were, will give me a better chance of finding out when the car was actually manufactured.

Cheers guys and girls :)

The MyPOIwarning files on the Connecta 3 (SDCard) ICE have been loaded there...by someone, somewhere? Not at the factory. It would be rather like map addresses that can be manually added in the Nav Places menus etc. Whoever had the car before you uploaded such data (csv files) in the Connecta 3 memory. They cannot be downloaded so no date info can be acquired. They will be overwritten on a further upload.

I suspect the Speed Cam alarms you get are about 1 year out of date now. So you may suffer both false and non alarms?

The non SD card ICE uses Google maps I believe and anything POI (e.g Speed Cams) are special to the mob phone (Android/Apple). Am pretty sure that Nissan backed away from this because of European happenings..particularly nanny France banning Speed Cam detection on all GPS systems. Fines of course.

The Speed Cam databases that might be termed accurate/supported are not free, requiring subscription. See https://www.pocketgpsworld.com

Thanks for the info, fella...the car was bought from a Main Dealer and was a 2019 pre reg with 8 miles on the clock, so quite strange how the camera info managed to find its way onto the satnav.

So, if I pay for a subscription and download it I'm guessing the speed camera warnings will still work, but with the latest data available?

Cheers

Peculiar to say the least? The subscription is for a year and covers UK and most of Europe. Subscribers contribute to it and it should be free of duplicates when issued for download by an Admin.

If you PM me with your email address I'll show you the file format from a 2 month old database. It has 16,000 entries - GATSO's, Mobiles and red Light cams.

90% of the speed cams in the uk were switched off in 2012 as they couldn't afford to keep them up and running. The new one's that they have put up on the motorways are 100% working 😁

My understanding is that speed camera information was always available on Connect 3 versions - i.e. with the SD card - but not with the newer ICE without the CD card.
