Initially I thought our Struts would not fit the new QQ but they did. There are small differences between manufacturers like for instance the shape of the Bracket that is installed to the Bonnet, the Snap On Fitting for the Hyd. Cylinders, the quality of the Snap Ons and of course the Hyd Cyl etc... Fitting time is minimal and for the cost you cannot go far wrong - Dave 😉

I really fancy doing this

I'm the least mechanical person there is though so it would be a huge adventure for me to say the least

I fancy trying it though as it looks really easy?

Does anyone know the best gas struts I could buy and what tools I would need to do it?

Hi!
Even without any experience you should be able to handle this one.
I bought mine on AliE, the link can be found in the video description a bit higher up in this topic.
But on Ebay you can find sets as well. It should cost you more than 20 somewhat euros.

The only thing you need is a wrench, a 10mm for the bolts in the front and a 13mm for the brackets on the bonnet itself if I recall well.
An additional pair of pliers would be helpful to block the nut on one side well fixing bolt on the other side when doing the brackets.

Just follow my video tutorial step by step and you should be able to do this.
Watching it several times up front could help to build up some trust.

Top tip! Place something over the motor when doing this (plastic sheet for instance) on my first attempt I lost the bolt nut way down in the motor compartment while undoing it. Oups....

Shefffielder, the job is more than easy. When we bought the Batch of Struts as a Forum Buy I knocked up a small Doc as advise which just shows you the steps. If you have interest take a look, I have just photo’ed quickly the info’ so hopefully it’s readable - Dave 👍😉

PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS AN OLDER KIT AND MAY VARY FROM WHAT YOU BUY, BUT THE PRINCIPLE IS THE SAME !

Nice one Dave!
The brackets did change indeed but it's really straight forward (IF you don't loose your nut in the motor that is  )
The second time on the new QQ it virtually took my like 10mins.

It is one of those must have upgrades. Love it.
