Could anyone please point me in the direction of what I needto be looking for regarding the ingress of water in my J10 QQ.
I noticed a large pool of water - clear water some weeks ago in the left hand side of the boot, near the spare wheel (under the jack and tools). It was going to the garage at the time (unrelated) who ran a water test (assume that meant pouring water over the outside to see if any ingressed) and garage said they could not find any leak or water coming in. So I assume I do not have an external leak of any kind. Garage told me to keep an eye on it.
Well, I checked again a few days ago and there was another small pool of water - same place. Clear water again. Only a small amount. It has been dry here so I don't think it's rain water. It has also battered it down today and last night and I have checked the area today and it is dry.
Last week I used the rear windscreen wash briefly - a few squirts, and that has been the only change from anything. I read somewhere that a possible culprit might be a leak from the rear windscreen wash. There's no rust in the area so it's not long standing water. I have no idea how or where to locate any tubes for the rear windscreen wash - if this is the culprit, and car is still covered for the next 6 weeks under the warranty I got with it when I bought it so I can always put it into the local dealership to fix or investigate more.
Has anyone got any ideas how or where the water might be coming in please?
TIA
Craig

Check the rubber grommets at the top of the tailgate. I remember on the mk1 T30 X-Trail these get loose over the years and do not provide a proper seal and let water in the boot down to the spare wheel well.craig1965 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 7:30 pm Could anyone please point me in the direction of what I needto be looking for regarding the ingress of water in my J10 QQ.

Could be a build up of condensation over time, usually there is a rubber grommet at the low points that can be holed or removed to allow the water to escape.

Rear light seals have been reported on other cars.

The rear lights has no seals. I had fit mine back 2 days ago. The only seal there is for the grommet of the wire supplying the light assembly

That rubber drain is in the wrong place. As I have noticed seen in the picture, the water stays on that corrugated area. This then makes the carpet in the boot wet and also the water to drain into the spare wheel well.

I researched all the places where the water was coming in and identified that it was coming from the roof rail. My car is a J10 N-Tec. Now I don't know what to do, maybe I need to remove the roof rail to gain access to the hole where the water is entering. I'm crazy about this situation. Has anyone removed the roof rail yet? It doesn't seem to be an easy task.
