Pair of wife's old tights and an elastic band over filler neck when topping up simplz!

I'm guessing the one way valve only stops washer fluid draining back into the tank so that when you hit the washers instant flow. I'm sure this is a fairly recent thing so replacing that 3 way valve with a non back flow version or carefully drilling out the tube isn't a major issue.

"Fairly recent"? Not sure why that's relevant. The J10 had one too

Just cured my dribbling washer jets in half an hour. Similar to Gloucesters method but I didn't strip much down. I removed the 6 plastic clips that hold the plastic cowling together at the base of the wiper arms. Removed the 4 clips that hold the silver heat shield in place. I parted the plastic cowling just enough to put my fingers in and fished around for the waterpipe. It's possible to pull the pipe assembly out and simply pull the 3 pipes from the valve. Drilled straight through the valve assembly removing (destroying) the one way valve. Cleared the debris from the assembly and refitted the 3 waterpipes. Pushed it back into the cowling and replaced the clips. Sorted.

Simply buy a 5mm tee and replace the one way valve. I did this and the washers work fine now. I removed the old valve and took it apart, inside there’s a spring and rubber diaphragm, you could remove them and put the old valve back in but i didn’t. The 5mm tee valve cost 1.80.

The part is a non return valve, once you've used the washers its stops the fluid in the pipes draining back into the reservoir. You can prise the top of the valve off with a stanley blade (be very careful not to slip) then carefully remove the small spring & diaphragm. Inspect, clean the re-assemble.

The item in question is a non return valve which can be carefully taken apart with a stanley blade (prise the top off). Inside is a spring and small rubber diaphragm.
