Qashqai Model: Still looking for one....

Post by Doogle »

Ok very "Subjective" topic, question, debate coming up which I guess will have no definitive answers but...here we go :?

I'm looking at retiring next year (42 years of 12hr shifts is enough for anyone I think :? )
I'm also looking at a Qashqai for my kinda "Forever car" so have been looking at 2020-21 late model J11's with bells and whistles, so N-Connecta and possibly up?

However the J12 does look good, although I do like the curvier J11 shape.

SO...thoughts on both, what do current J11 owners think of the J12, are you thinking of changing, or already changed, is the price difference between the two (up to six grand cheaper for a very low mileage N-Connecta I've seen on 20 and 21 plates) worth it?

I also fancied an Auto but reading comments on here about the CTV I'm wary of it, are most problems on the CTV models limited to earlier models (Pre 2019)

Thanks for taking the time to read this and am looking forward to your views and thoughts 8-)

I personally wouldn't buy a J12 just yet, would give the model run a couple of years to get the bugs out of the system. I have a 2020 ST+ (Australian Delivered) with CVT transmission. I am 75 years young and with what I can see these transmissions are good for around 160,000 KLM so with my current usage the vehicle will outlast me considering that in the last 12 months including lock downs (Covid related) I have covered all of 5000 KLM.

Hi Doogie,
I have a late model J11 2020, 1.3 Petrol with the DCT auto gear box. I have bought the car as my last one as I am now retired.
So far I have been impressed with the car and the gearbox.

Doogle, we have looked at the new J12, Test Driven it, got all the Specs, read all the comments on the Forum and finally got a quotation. The opinion was Nice I drove the Premium model but I am waiting for a Test in what I am after the J12 Tekna +.
All opinions are different the same as members requirements but I liked it personally the engine the 1,3L is what we have and the NEW CVT seemed on the Test to be very quick and nippy. Again just to mention I have posted on the CVT and it is NEW with D-Step and has been around a few years in the US in the Rogue - take a read !
This is the “Premium” J12 Test QQ :

Now we have the J11B Tekna + 2019 at present and this is way better than the original J11A which we had with the 1,2L motor. The Auto Box is a new for Nissan DCT (Renault / Nissan / MB) not the older Nissan CVT Box, another to me nice piece of equipment very smooth and quick. The Tekna + is the QQ with the Color match Bodywork and there does not appear to be many around especially out here but they look a little different and yes they have all the “Bells & Whistles”. Now Nissan Dealers are obviously trying to move these models and there are some excellent offers around here and most likely in the UK.
Our QQ J11B is still excellent and we will most probably just hold off and monitor how the J12 goes as a new model.
This is our QQ J11B Tekna + :

Advice : take a read on the Forum at all the various + / - comments on the Posts for the J12 / New CVT and make your own comparison on which model to go for. As normal you will get a wide range of opinions which is hopefully want you are after.
Hope this Helps You Enjoy your Retirement. All the Best Dave (if you want more just ask) 😉 👍

Thanks for the info Dave and indeed all of you for your replies, I realise at the end of the day it’s down to personal choice and, I guess, what deals and offers may be available at the time but a bit of research does no harm

Welcome to this forum.

I was coming up to retirement (I have now) so bought a Suzuki!

So you can ignore anything I say!

(The Ignis has just completed its three year warranty - with no claims! I've extended it for a year nevertheless...)

Question for Dave, how do you like that cream silver color on j12 compared to gun metal ?, i got a good offer from my nissan dealer in cro 27000 bp for a tekna and they are giving me a fair price for my j11b, the problem is I want the two color option gun metal/black top which is not available, only cream silver/ black top on the cards .

Hi Verudela, personally I prefer the Gunmetal Silver it’s got that for me extra gloss or shine. Regarding colors that is basically a decision you have to make. Now regarding the Black or Two Tone Model, can I suggest that you contact a “Foil Specialist” as you could get the Roof done and the advantage is if you do not like it you can rip it off. I discussed this when we bought our Tekna + with a Local Specialist near our Dealer and to do a similar job as the Juke he wanted €200 which when you consider the preparation, time, cutting extra I thought was not bad.
Think it over but if the Deal is that good perhaps you could live with the color - again your decision Good Luck Dave 🤗

This Lotus for example was Fully Foiled - a really excellent job and very difficult to find the joins :

Hi

Just to give you something else to think about! I owned a Qashqai J11A (2015) Tekna cvt diesel. Really loved the car, but have recently p/exchanged it for a new Juke Tekna+. I've had the car a month now, and was a bit dubious as it only comes with a one litre, albeit turbo charged engine. It has a DCT autobox, but I needn't have worried, as it performs great. Personally I don't find the DCT box as smooth as the CVT was, but am getting used to it. The Tekna and Tekna+ Juke come fully loaded with kit, and the Bose sound system is lovely (has speakers fitted in the headrests), and the seats are extremely comfy and lovely to look at!

Good luck with whatever you choose.
