Hi,
J11 1.5 dci.
Had problem with these lights staying on when car alarmed. Went to main Nissan dealer recently In Plymouth and after £137.10 full diagnostic, problem not rectified and rebooked me in for Jan 21 for another £114 so a senior technician? could check it out, ( I don't think so).
Did some research and identified possible problem with the IPDM module (Intelligent Power Distribution Module). Suggested help was to disconnect and reconnect the battery to reset, but reluctant to do so as car might have to be reprogrammed after connecting battery. No problem at all and light problem resolved.
What was lost was mpg history, which has restarted recording. In fact since doing this there have been many benefits e.g. stop/start more efficient and wiper goes faster when raining hard.
When disconnecting battery car must be left for up to 1/2 hr before reconnecting. Look at You Tube (Nissan IPDM) which has advice on this issue.

The parking brake lights I am referring to are the dash and park brake switch centre console warning lights - when park brake is on.

Should have mentioned these lights normally go out after approx 4 mins after alarming.

I would think that within the £137 would be a system reset. As part of diagnostic procedure and after diagnostics had been run and recorded. Simple stuff really.

That didn't happen on my car. I'm not even sure what you mean by "parking brake lights".

I presume he means "side lights"? But even so they wouldn't be on for four minutes.

My two pennies worth:
J11A diagnostics show a Parking/Daytime Running LED lamp in the Combination Headlamps. Same as J11B. They are each powered by a SMART FET (power semiconductor) in IPDM as with most of the cars lights. As are the Tail lamps (LED). The running lamps are these things > < on J11B.

Anything driven by a SMART FET is also controlled by a CPU module that in turn is linked in on the vehicle CAN BUS (LAN). I suspect that communicates to the BCM (Body Control Module) along with dedicated wires which receives driver stalk/switch commands for many driver functions. Not clear how Alarm activities gets into the above story really...very likely via BCM of course using CAN or dedicated wiring?

Alarming is usually flashing indicator lights *4. The diagrams for the flasher turn signals function are wrong although they do show turn signals controlled by BCM.

I've never tried to initiate a parking light situation (one side only in old money?). I assume its a case of leaving the sidelights on...all are LEDs on J11B

The Parking Brake Light is the switch in the cabin replacing the hand brake lever for J11B. That commands Brake Screw motors.

The fault could be logic error somewhere in the lighting control path (IPDM to BCM). Something stuck low/high?
