I have noticed a reduction in my fuel efficiency after I had a service at halfords, I am curious as to what might cause this. I had a major service last week, previously last month on long journeys of over 30 miles on motorways with no traffic I could get my fuel usage at around 54mpg with my best recorded fuel efficiency at 56.4mpg. Today I had a long motorway journey, no traffic, the fuel was recorded at 48.3mpg which is about 10% less. There may be other factors that caused this but seeing as I had a service last week and only a week or so prior to this I noted the fuel consumption at around 54mpg I'm kind of worried.
My car is a 2016 Qashqai.
What are your typical average fuel consumption for motorway journeys? What might cause a change in the fuel consumption?

Spot on with this , the engine has several sensors that help control the output of the engine.
As an aside - I would make sure that the correct viscosity of oil was used too

ECU Managment (internal 3D map and more). This is where the decisions are made based on driver input and environment variables (sensors). Target for consumer vehicles generally is...fuel efficiency and emissions. Performance...stick a Turbo in.

I noticed significant drop in my petrol fuel consumption on my last QQ when the temperature outside went below 10 degrees
