"batteries on his brand new MHEV QQ failed after a week..."
I do hope Nissan dealers have quite a few replacement cars at hand because a problem like this may take even weeks to properly identify.
I also saw a youtube-video of a J12 tester who completely messed up that new X-Tronic shifter/handle by simply putting it forward and backwards a few time.
And few moments ago on the German QQ J12 Forum :
"...the car is already bitchy, has the CVT transmission and unfortunately it jerks when shifting, especially when it is cold and at 30 - 40 km / h. Will drive to the dealership on Monday."
Very personally ... now fear for the worst.
[Me getting rid of my very reliable -yet older- car ... may get into trouble ... needlessly]

Luckily these things are fixed under warranty. Of course that means hassle to you. Most new cars have some faults when they enter the market and consumer hands.

This makes me nervous too.
I’m planning to be looking at the full hybrid version when it comes out.
Unfortunately (for Nissan) I’m also feeling attraction to Hyundai and/or Kia

Dunno about that ilkka !
Some, what customers call, defects are easily refererred to by dealers/Nissan as "works as designed".
Warranty will never be able to (a.o.) fix either the 'clunky/loose' 6MT -or- 'jerky' X-tronic that, at least according to some reviews (?), leaves much to be desired !
But of course ... proof is in the pudding (or so they say).
We won't know much about the reliability of this new J12 until it is ... too late I'm afraid.

The CarWow video I watched the other week shows Mat Watson playing with the X-Tronic shifter (about 12 mins in) to produce the new Bandai Namco “sound effects”. He rocks it back and forwards. Then, later in the video when he goes on a test drive (about 13 mins, 40 secs in) it says “gearbox fault” on the digital display.
He basically had to “restart” the car by turning it off and on again to clear the error!

This Xtronic/CVT, even the 3-mode 6MT manual transmission, is most probably full of electronic components.
Imagine children 'playing' some with this X-Tronic shifter ... that was *not* fixed by simply restarting the car ... 'service now' never boods well !

I’ve taken delivery of new 3rd generation Qashqui, very please with the performance, just one slight problem…..
The alarm is going off for no reason at night, by the time I’ve gone to reset using the keys it’s stopped.
Any ideas - my neighbours aren’t going to be happy!!!

When this happened to me in my J11A it was a moth flying around the cabin.
Hopefully, you can turn off the internal sensors

Welcome to this forum.
Congratulations, you're I think the second person here with one - is yours the Premier or something else? And what engine/gearbox?
Alarms can be triggered by moths inside - try disabling the interior sensor. (Whoops - just noticed Mike said the same!)

POV drive of the CVT 158HP QQ. To me the engine looks powerful enough based on that video. Gets nicely up to speeds when overtaking.
To add, my own test drive is 1.5 weeks away. My dealer will have their car on tuesday 20th and they said it'll take them rest of the week to deal with paperwork, and test drives are possible on the next week.
