I think you would be best to take your car to a Nissan garage who would have all the necessary diagnostic equipment. I'm pretty sure they would be able to find the cause.

The windows on my new QQ misted up a bit and I found the inside of the windows were greasy, or some sort of coating, so I cleaned them thoroughly with car window cleaning wipes and the problem has virtually gone.

As you say, if the temp gauge goes to the middle, I'd think that shows that the engine temp is about right so maybe its not the thermostat. Not having specific knowledge of this fault on this car I'm sorry but am not sure what to suggest. Good luck!

It could be a faulty engine cooling system thermostat. If you consider that the cooling system must have the capacity to cool the engine during a heatwave, it follows that it will cool it too much in cold weather.
