Re: Distance to empty/Fuel Gauge issue

You distance to refill is calculated on current fuel consumption and amount in the tank. When you pulled into the fuel station, the car was on a journey and your fuel consumption was probably quite good. You stopped the car, filled up and then started and drove off. Your new fuel consumption figures...

Re: How to drive downhill?

I have had CVT gearboxes for years and they are different than standard autos. On my QQ 1.6 cdi when I travel down hill I let the car do its thing and just cover the brake. It seems to use the auto box and engine braking to maintain the speed limit, if you have the speed limit sensor, maybe lets it ...

A Word of Warning

I had a slow puncture in my rear offside tyre so went to the tyre dealers to get it sorted. I found that the tyres were letting air out through the treads  The tyres had a good 4mm tread left on them, but were the original Continental tyres fitted when new in 2014. I have been caravanning for...

Re: Tyre pressure sensor light ON

It may be a battery failure in one of the sensors. I must admit I didn't know they had them, had to google it, but then how else would they work :) apparently the batteries should last about 10 years They could have used kinetic energy. My doorbell button is wireless and batteryless. It works by co...

Re: Spare wheel question

Could always make sure your breakdown cover is in place and that it covers your wheels and tyres. Must be cheaper than getting a spare wheel which may, hopefully, never be used.

Re: Drilled Brake Disc recommendation?

I've always be curious as to why my bikes' brake discs don't go rusty. There must be some residual difference. As I said, early bike discs were just flat stainless steel and were useless in the wet, modern bikes are usually drilled and grooved to help braking. Racing bikes use steel or cast iron di...

Re: Drilled Brake Disc recommendation?

There are many companies that do "Anti-corrosion UV coating" for brake disks. Here is a quick review of some brands in the USA I just found to give a flavour. https://www.autoguide.com/top-7-best-performance-brake-rotors-and-why-some-cars-need-them I'm sure someone could find something a ...

Re: Drilled Brake Disc recommendation?

Hi all, my brake discs are overcome with rust and I’m looking to swap them with some aftermarket discs drilled and grooved etc. Has anyone fitted any and could recommend? As far as I can see the choice is Black Diamond or Zimmerman? Any others? Any thoughts on either of these? Thanks Unless you go ...
