Absolutely not! Please read what I wrote. What I am saying is that when the dashboard was designed it was clearly designed to accommodate the new larger display, but was initially fitted with the smaller one.

Great to hear everything seems to be fine with the engine

I can't advise on the technical issues but during the period I had mine it disappointingly averaged only 34.2mpg over just over 10k miles. It was difficult to get anywhere near the "official" figures.

If serious issues happen out of warranty, Nissan sometimes makes a contribution, but only if the car has been main-dealer serviced throughout.

My car wasn't affected, at the time I sold it before the problem arose.

£12k is more than other people have been quoted - usually around a still unacceptable £8k.

In your situation I think you'll have to go down the route you've suggested.

I doesn't seem like the usual 1.2 problem, which definitely involves a rattle and excessive oil usage.
