Multiple Problems with AC

Hello All!

So I have a 2013 Qashqai with multiple AC problems it seems. I am not a car person per-se so please bear with me as I explain the issues in non-technical terms.

The AC cooling is generally very weak. Once the temperature reaches 35 celsius degrees outside you would be sweating inside even if the AC is on full power. The compressor failed a year ago and I bought a generic one to replace it so perhaps that is one of the reasons?

The other problem I am facing is that whenever the AC is on and I stop at a light there is always a clicking sound coming from the front. As if there is something is loose and it is making sound as it shakes. This can sometimes evolve (while stopping at a light) into a complete engine shut-down. When the latter happens the engine will shake and Tachometer will suddenly go to zero once or twice then the engine will shut down.

Any clue on what could be the issue(s) would be greatly appreciated. I have visited a garage before and the guy did some checks and fixes which improved the AC performance a little but that is about it.

My only "advice" would be to search for a local, reputable, recommended air conditioning specialist and ask them to check your system.
