Yesterday I drove my QQ (2017 32000 miles) for about 2 hours, about 1 hour on dual carriageway, and the 1 hour stopping and starting at times over short distances. Then I left the car parked, with hazards on and a dashcam inside, engine off. When I retuned after 10 minutes to drive off the engine wont start. The battery appeared ok as I managed to charge my phone, interior lights were coming on including wipers and hazards. But no audio system. So I thought it can't be the battery.

I called up breakdown who arrived and attached their battery booster to my car battery and the engine started up - which I thought was odd.

The technician told me the battery charge isn't holding. I took it to quick fit who told me it looked ok, and it was giving them 14volts, good condition and 80% charged reading.

FYI, it is still the genuine NIssan manufacturers battery installed on the car. Any thoughts on what this problem could be?

I think you have pretty much answered your own question, I'm afraid it sounds like your battery is on its last legs.

Yes...looking at new batteries at the moment. Should I buy a genuine Nissan or are there better ones available?

Thanks. I was thinking of getting this, which is more powerful, it appears to be compatible...is the original Nissan battery EFB?

Yes EFB is the batt you need. Give this one a try if you wanted a higher cc https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392783667884

Wouldn't an AMG be compatible or work?

Hi , I bought my battery from Tanya, about £127, Wigan Nissan wanted £170 if I recall and said it needed coding, Chorley priced the same as Tanya and said no coding needed, I already had the battery so it was a straight swap, no coding needed.
Nissan said they only give a 2 year warranty on there battery's as its a stop start, so double check if you get there's. My battery was only 2.5 years old. Im sure I posted about it.
I also moved the stop start button further up on the dash and always disable it when I start up.

Hi, Nissan said it will cost £177 and I do want to get a more powerful battery as I am currently using the car more regularly with phone charge, hearing, demister etc at the same time. Expecting a new 760ah agm battery to arrive any minute now.

I was just thinking if my issue could have been the spark plugs or ignition coil, can they be jump started via battery?
