We took my car for a cambelt change (55,000miles) to a Nissan garage and on return we noticed a knocking under load noise from the engine, we took the car back to the garage and was then told it was a failed injector (a further £900 to repair). Following a conversation with Nissan customer services they agreed to a a goodwill payment and covered the costs. The car on return from the garage had the same noise and my husband had to pull over on the hard shoulder of the motorway (engine light on and miss firing and stuttering), we took it back to the garage and they have now said the other 3 injectors need replacing ( a further £1700), the garage are refusing to accept that this is a fault from the change of cambelt and want the payment to rectify the problem. Has anyone had anything similar happen? We do not want to pay the garage as we feel they have created the problem.

Hi,
What engine and age is the car please?

55,000 is very early for injectors to fail mileage wise (I've just had to replace 4 on my 2011 1.5dci with 150,000 miles)

It could be the timing is out slightly and the sensors are interpreting it as injector failure? You wouldn't go to bear the injectors replacing the belt so I wouldn't imagine they've been damaged though

Thanks it is a 2017 and it is a 1.5 diesel - I actually don't think it is the injectors either just the garage making an excuse for a problem they have caused.

I would be tempted to take the car to an independent specialist to check the belt has been positioned correctly.

Yeah this definitely, it might cost a bit in diags but gives you a fighting chance, cambelt change on my k9k j10 was £400 so worst case get it changed and then small claims court (I had similar with a glow plug issue I had years ago)
