Hi,

The exhaust heat shield has fallen off our J11 1.2l petrol Qashqai (picture attached). We’ll get it repaired/replaced but we’re away visiting relatives and several hours drive from home, should it be ok to drive in the meantime? Thanks in advance.

Undo the fixings, get some oversized stainless washers re mount or some stainless sheet and cut squares , drill holes, mount, had something similar on my old Almera

As others have mentioned it should be quite easy to re-fix back into place.
As regards to driving without it, the heatshield came off our previous J10 whilst driving on the motorway, heard a thud from under the car and in the rest view mirror saw the heatshield go bouncing down the road, no way was I turning back to even try to retrieve it!
Drove the car for a further 5 or so years without it, passed its M.O.T's and no sign of problems. I admit that it's designed for a reason and I'm guessing if you're going to re-fit it, then a week or two shouldn't be an issue.
