one front wiper not working on 2015 Qashqai

I tried to use my front wipers today and the passenger side worked fine but the drivers side did not move

I always free up the wipers on frosty morning so avoid damage

When I tried to move the wiper by hand, it appears to be totally free and can be moved easily so I assume it is not connected to anything

Any ideas would be gratefully received

Without looking at the linkage/motor I would hazard a guess that you may have a linkage arm that has come away from the mechanism.
I'm afraid this means removing the wiper arms and the plastic cover to have a look.
