Hello

When arriving home today ( after a 5 mile journey ) , I noticed quite a bit of steam coming from the exhaust. Also when accelerating the engine and then taking my foot off the accelerator as the engine's revs die down there is a loudish clicking noise.

The car is 6 months old, done just over 4000 miles and the engine is 1.2 dig turbo.

Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be ? Also would it be wise to drive it to my dealer ( about 10 miles away ) or would it be better to call out the RAC?

Check your coolant level. It might just be condensation in the exhaust system vaporizing.

Thanks switchback, that's exactly what it is. It worried me a bit (I'm a glass half empty person) as there was so much, so this morning called out the RAC who said that with the weather so damp and mild it's not unusual. Apparently if any water was getting to the cylinders there would be so much steam you would hardly be able to see behind you. He did run a diagnostics check on the car which was fine.

Thanks for your reply.
