Thanks for that info glad its not just me that has the problem...they will probably say it something unrelated to the software update that is causing all the problems but only started after the update...coincedence

Hello all, first post and thank god I found you, just collected my Qashqai after ecm update (p63130) and it sounds terrible, hunting on tickover judders and nearly cuts out when driving and the corner of my engine cover near injector seems to have been broken off. Am waiting for them to call me back so will be watching this thread, thought it may only be me. keep up the good work. neil.

Car back from Nissan they say they have recalibrated it ..cruise control now working ..no judder on high speed ..still got a rattle they say is just diesel rattle but is louder since software update car now doing 40+mpg round town was only doing 30mpg before it went back to them..they say nothing wrong with the car but it drives different since they have had it today...1.5dci

The noisy rattle and occasional hunting on tick over was present on mine after the ECM update in June this year. But after a few weeks it all settled down and now runs nicely.

The cruise control also didn't work after collection but this was due to the technician not checking a firmware setting which needed changing. Just shows how much they actually check what they are doing.

I had the software update done last Wednesday (07/12/2016) on my 2010 Qahqai1.5 dci at my local Nisan delaer. Within minutes of leaving the garage I had problems with low acceleraton and smoke billowing out of the exhaust. Things seemed to settle down quickly and I put it down to water getting ino the exhaust (they alway clean the car with a pressure washer when you you visit this particular garage) and the ECU software being reset and there not being enough time passed for it to adapt to my driving style.

The perfomance problems continued over the weekend and I also experienced a smell of buring oil whenever I drove the car. Again, things seemed to settle down albeit with accleration not being a great and, in particular, flat spots in second gear, However, yesterday morning my speed suddenly dropped dramictically and smoke started to emerge from the exhaust - and, I mean a serious amount of the stuff. I couldn't accelerate but the car would occassionally surge forward - which was not a very nice thing to experience. I immediately took it back to the garage and left it all day. They said that the mass air flow sensor was faulty and needed to be changed and that this problem was unrelated to the software update. However, it seems a mighty strange coincidence that it should fail within seconds of leaving the garage.

The upshot is that they want £240 to replace it. This coming on top of the £600 I spent a month ago for a service and having the wiper linkages replaced and the £600 approximately 1 year ago replacing the diesel particlate filter. As you can probably appreciate, I am not a happy bunny and I am currently searching for somwhere I can get it done cheaper.

Looks like it is a big problem with the software but they wont say it is ..if enough people complain i bet there will be another recall and they will change the software again but say it is for something else. .it will all be down to the emission scandel but i dont think they will ever tell us it is

I have been on a constant mission to see how the car is doing since the "upgrade " I still find that it is down on mpg and I have travelled 400 miles since they sent for the car. Noise still there, like loud tappets! Will be in touch with Nissan Headquarters this next week for some answers! Will keep you posted.

I have now had the mass air sensor replaced with an OEM part at a local garage where I normally take the car (and which was £75 cheaper than the Nissan garage was quoting). Initially, things seemed better but this morning I experienced another lack of power and smoke coming from the exhaust and uneven running for a mile or two before things settled down. There is also pronounced diesel knocking at low speeds.

The guy at the local garage investigated further. His diagnosis was the OBD code P0100 was being reported again and that there was an imbalance in the measured air flow and the fueling. He consulted with a friend who is a mechanic at a Nissan dealership who informed him ("in confidence") that they are overwhelmed with recalls. There are also different engine configurations and the update or the re-configuration procedure is different for each variant. As well as the the update the injectors need to be re-programmed (but this may just be on 2 litre models).

As a result they have been rushing things and a making a number of mistakes. He also confirmed that the fault code is for the MAS but could also be triggered by an incorrect fuel/air mixture. He also said that failure of the cruise control for those cars which have it (not mine) is another tell-tale symptom. The guy believes that the ECM mapping data will have been incorrectly loaded and advised taking it back to Nissan. This is where my car is at present and I am awaiting a phone call in which I confidently believe that the Nissan garage will tell me that they couldn't find anything wrong but after which I will never experience the fault again :D
