Hi - A few days ago our QQ started struggling to turn over when I pushed the ignition. Then yesterday it threw up a bunch of system errors before dying altogether. It's under warranty so the RAC guy came out and diagnosed a faulty battery cell, saying it needed replacement. I asked him if this happened often and he gave me a sideways look and said "I'm afraid I can't comment". He was able to start the car with jump leads from his van but he said there was no way it would start without this so he towed it to the dealer. As it happens it was due its annual service today (we bought it six months old a little over a year ago). My wife went to pick it up today and they told her the battery was absolutely fine. They couldn't or wouldn't answer how they had started it up, given it was completely dead on delivery and would only say the battery "tested good". We have a diagnosis email from RAC saying the battery needs replacement and a dealer that claims its fine. Has anyone else had similar situations, and does anyone know if there is a reason the dealer would be trying to avoid a replacement of the battery? Thanks.

Thanks Gel. I hadn't been able to find many instances where dealers refused to replace batteries, or any information about why dealers may be motivated to try and avoid this outcome. Hence my fresh post.

I had the same problems (Fiamm) battery and Nissan Customer Service refused to authorise a battery change because the battery would accept charge.
The fact that the went flat after 2 hours was considered acceptable. (what a bunch of muppets).
It came to a head when my Wife was stranded 70 miles from home after a 70 mile run and 2 hours of shopping. When she returned home after an RAC jump start I went straight to the dealer and had the battery replaced at my cost £59 and the car has bean reliable and trouble free ever since.
The whole business left a nasty taste in my mouth and when I change the car next year it won't be a Nissan.

Surely the point is that not only should the battery accept a charge it should also retain it for a reasonable amount of time.

That a Battery should accept AND retain charge was the reason I wanted the Battery to be replaced under warranty but Nissan would not accept this reasoning hence I changed the battery at my cost. Like I said ." A bunch of muppets " not fit for purpose.

Same with me on 26/07/2016. mileage 9458. Car loaded up to go to the council tip in Leatherhead - Non Start. All the dash instruments going crazy. RAC analysis - Excessive drain rate and battery (Fiamm) failed test. Checked the usual , suspects, boot light on etc. Got me running again and advised I should get to main dealer ASAP.
My dealer of choice- Bishops, Guildford quickly checked the car over and showed me a battery test result made on their Infiniti test rig which indicated 75% ? Wanted to keep the car. No loan car available so I insisted they contact Customer Services to approve a hire vehicle. Bishops decided to consult their electrical specialist and, hey presto, a new battery was fitted. All still O/K at 12000 miles including a holiday trip to Pembrokeshire,
Bishops, although not the supplying dealer, have sorted out a few warranty snags to my satisfaction and appear to be one of the better Nissan dealers.
The stop start system is still a law unto itself.

I had the same problem with the battery. To my surprise, it was changed fast, with no comments, under warranty ("common problem" - they told)
The only problem is that the replacement battery which they mounted is not Nissan (as was the original one) but it is marked "Dacia (probably the battery from Duster - this dealer represents Dacia, Renault and Nissan). They assured me that the battery is fully compatible with QQ, supports the "Start and Stop" system etc.
Till now no problems, hope will be OK.

Hi I have a 66 plate Qashqai and I have just had my 3rd battery fitted. The second one I was told by rac there were a faulty batch the 3rd one Nissan said was due to low mileage I have only done 11450 miles. All have been within my 3 year warranty. But the workshop manager said they would very probably replace it again should it happen due to good customer relations
