Neil, just read you are waiting for a QQ SV Model. This type of QQ designation seems to change in different Markets around the World.
For example :
UK - Visia / Acenta / Acenta Premium / n-tec / n-tec + / Tekna
Ireland - XE / SV / SVE
Germany - Visia / Acenta / QQ 360* / Tekna
Australia - ST / Ti / TS

Now without going through all the Specifications and doing a comparison like for like, does anybody have a quick explanation why these Marketing designations / differences exist. Is it just to meet the Local Markets ? - Thanks Dave ;)

I have often wondered the same thing! Makes it very confusing.

I did notice that in Ireland we now have a SV Premium for 2016. The dealer told me that was to bridge the big price gap between the SV and SVE models. The SV also got a few added extras with Panoramic roof & Silver roof rails as standard. This was only available on the SVE before (and the glass roof was a extra).

We don't get a colour called "Gunship Grey" in the UK either. I am surprised that Nissan also has different paint colours for Ireland. Enjoy your new QQ when it lands!

Isn't it called Gunship Grey? Could have sworn I've seen that name mentioned before. Well it is a Grey I'm getting.

I'm guessing that here in Australia it's both to simplify and streamline the lineup, and to cater for different local markets.
Putting aside choice in paint colors, there are only 2 trim levels (low/high available) in a 2.0L petrol (manual/auto), and a 1.6L Diesel (auto only) - resulting in 6 model choices only. Most people will probably be a little flexible in paint color, but for most people the engine/transmission they want they will be pretty set on, and from there there's only a choice of low/high trim levels.

If we had the factory build options available in Europe, you'd be talking few weeks/months in getting around to production, then few months for them to ship them over on the slow boat from Europe where they are built. By only having the simplified options, they can just make X of them with no factory customization available, and quite often dealers are selling stock that is already on it's way on the boat. From there all the accessories that are offered are dealer stick/bolt on.

As far as catering to the local markets, Aussies seem to balk at the thought of a small efficient turbo engine, and want their thumping great 6.0L V8 boganmobiles. Also since we're not bound by the strict euro standards (or at least won't be for another few years) they fit the 2.0L petrols here instead.
There are no road tax incentives for driving more efficient cars (here in SA where I'm based registration price is based primarily on number of cylinders, not based on efficiencty or emissions or anything like that.
Fuel standards are also different as well I believe. Whereas current euro emissions standards require lower suphur content in diesel, I believe Australia still allows higher concentrations. The fuel cap on my vehicle lists Euro 4 standards, whereas I believe all of the J11's in Europe are at least Euro 5 if not the newer Euro 6. Some quick googling indicates full Euro 5 won't be required in Australia until Q4 2016, and mid 2018 for Euro 6.

We also run under some different design/safety rules, which for the most part are similar/the same, aren't necessarily aligned. In a some cases the ADR and ANCAP standards are lagging behind euro design and NCAP standards, in other cases they are different. Here DRL's aren't a requirement yet on vehicles (with no plans afaik to require them) and the vehicle still managed to get the highest ANCAP rating 5 without the auto emergency braking, so they probably took it out to save a few dollars.

Just to keep my thread updated.

I was officially informed by my dealer this morning that delivery has been delayed from early January to late February or early March :( :(

The important part..
".....ringing all my Qashqai customers who ordered the safety packs. We have just being informed yesterday by Nissan Ireland that them cars will only make February production which means late Feb/early March for delivery."

Evening all,

After about a 20 week week I got news on Monday that my car has arrived into the compound in Dublin. The Dealer expects delivery in a couple of days and I should have it the end of this week or early next week.

Its been a long wait.

Neil.
