Evening all,
I currently have a J11 Tekna early 2017 1.5dci. its been a very good car, apart from the known battery issue.
Now i am looking to change to a newer model, would like to keep the tekna spec.
The car i buy because of budget will be around 2020 model, dont think i can afford a 2021.
Anyway any recommendations on engine size and fuel preference?

Thanks Andy, I must admit I agree regards the used prices they are crazy.
Was thinking of the petrol but reading some of the issues with the thermostat etc aws putting me off!

It is a dillema that I sort of had around 18 months ago.
I previously had a company leased 2017 1.6 diesel (was a bit more lively than the 1.5 that I found underpowered when I test drove one) but on retirement chose a used 2020 1.3 petrol as I didn't want the possible dpf issues etc. since my milage would be much less. I didn't see the reports of thermostat issues until after I had bought the car, but asit only had 10,000 miles on the clock and I'm only doing around 6,000 per year I am not too concerned. There also must be plenty of 1.3 petrol Qashqais out there that haven't got the issue that we never hear about. I now have 25,000 miles on the clock with no problems other than a passenger door actuator cable failure (fixed under warranty).
As for mpg, the 1.3 is pretty frugal (I have the 140 not the 160) - I get around 40mpg on general running about etc., but on a long run can easily get 55+mpg. This isn't that far off the diesel I had, but obviously the 1.5 diesel you have will be somewhat better on fuel.
Pretty sure that the 2020 diesel engine also uses adblu and so thats another complication into the equation.
I firmly believe that the Qashqai is a good car, good luck with what ever you choose

Stick with the Tekna spec for your upgrade – it's got the good stuff. When it comes to engine size and fuel, it's all about your driving style and preferences. Diesel's solid for mileage and torque but I like more petrol's.
