I have just collected my car yesterday and tried out Android Auto. I understood the car should work with Android Auto when it is wired with a usb cable but in reality it seems to work perfectly wirelessly. Android Auto was automatically enabled when I connect my phone from my car via bluetooth. I am not sure if they have updated their software or the phone I could be using (it is a Pixel 8). While it works I also tried plugging in the cable to see if there is any difference but the apps (like maps, youtube music) seem to work in either connectivity. Does anyone have the similar experience or there are some functions that I am missing out when it is not wire connected?

From my understanding there are no functional differences between wired and wireless, though some report better audio quality, speed and reliability when wired, and better battery life (hard to quantify that though as the phone will charge when wired!)
I'd say run a day wired and day wireless and see if you can tell the difference. Personally I'd be interested in the results as I find my phone gets quite warm when running wired AA (my ICE doesn't support wireless) and I'm thinking of buying a wireless adapter to protect my phone's battery...

I have Google Maps and Youtube Music working fine. I still havent managed to get Waze to work, i tried both wired/wireless and didnt get it to work either. probably my phone's settings. i dont have other compatible apps to try on atm. Once I have Android Auto setup, every time the car starts with playing the song I was last listening to and the map automatically on the screen.SEK wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 3:57 pmThat is interesting to know! Think I've read elsewhere that the latest J12s benefit from the latest upgrade that includes wireless AA.
I'm happy with wired though as great way to charge my phone at the same time...no my phone doesn't have wireless charging either.

From 30th of August 2023 j12 comes with android wirless auto android enabled. You can get the upgrade from the dealer if your j12 doesn't have it
Oh nice, any chance you're able to direct me to sine literature that says that? Can't find anything onlinelewisbryant wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 12:32 pm From 30th of August 2023 j12 comes with android wirless auto android enabled. You can get the upgrade from the dealer if your j12 doesn't have it

Same experience here.
Was expecting to have to use it wired but was pleasantly surprised to find that it works fine wirelessly.
I still plug it in for long journeys, but it's super convenient that it connects from my pocket automatically for short trips around town.
