Hi Duncho.

I had a mechanic over today who checked all electricals, fuse and said everything seems in order. His conclusion is, although the battery is receiving healthy voltage from the Alternator, the battery sensor built inside the battery is not registering this information to Nissan battery sensor which is on Negative terminal. The green indicator on the top of the battery (which confirms a fully charged battery) is always black (meaning charging needed). He disconnected the battery for 10-15 minutes, and than ran diagnosis, and the error her got was B20BE battery temperature sensor.

He suggested to replace the battery first, and see if it works. If not, the battery sensor on negative terminal could be faulty.

Thanks Andy.

My car currently has Halfords battery (5 year guarantee). Unfortunately I do not have the receipt, as it was already fitted when I bought the car. I am going to try and see if they would replace it with out the receipt (highly doubt it, but will give it a try). If not then will order the Excide battery you mentioned.

Thanks

don`t think they will replace as you got know way of knowing how many years its been on the car, but fingers crossed.
the exide batt is around £110 online with few days delivery. ask your mechanic if he can prog the car to see that the new batt has been installed once fitted.

Tha Halfords trip has confused me further lol. They did a free battery health check and confirmed battery was absolutely fine. The didn't know why the green indicator was not turning green. Here is a battery health report.

Not sure where to go from here.

Is it possible for the battery to show 12v on multimeter, yet be bad? The fact that battery eye indicator is not becoming green makes me wonder if the battery gravity is good or not?

Is there a way to test the battery sensor with a multimeter?

If the battery is sulfated, battery acid density indicator will no longer turn to green. Try to charge it with slow battery charger (max 5A current) and you will see. I doubr battery sensor is faulty. It generates DTCs when you disconnect the cable terminal on it.

Thanks Dancho. Can a sulfated battery still carry over 12 volt charge yet be bad?

I drove last night for about half an hour without the battery sensor connected. The Nissan connect continuously showed voltage of over 14v. This morning when I checked the battery before starting the car, it was showing 12.5v on Nissan Connect.
